Roby Irvin founded South Coast Marine, Costa Mesa, CA, in 1978 on the concept of custom design and quality at prices comparable to the common production boat. From the mechanics and electronics, to rigging the sailboat to custom designing and crafting the rich wooden interior, a South Coast Marine boat was built to withstand the harsh marine environment in order to safely carry its passengers around the world while enjoying all the luxury and comforts of home.
The multiple mediums required in the construction of a South Coast Marine boat; wood, metal, fiberglass, epoxies, and the challenges of shaping and bending those materials to the specifications of the custom interior design, represent some of the unique skills that have carried over to Irvin and Co woodworking business today. Those years of training have put us in a position to be able to design the true one-of-a-kind piece of furniture or handle commercial jobs such as in hospitals, banks or other commercial applications that require unique or different design parameters.
