Associates Kit Cooney & Travis Griffin
Irvin & Co Associate, Kit Cooney, is a master craftsman with over 30 years in the custom woodworking business, having started at South Coast Marine in California and later moving to the Midwest to continue working for Irvin & Co. Kit's special skills that have crossed over from boat building to the woodworking business are working with fiberglass and epoxies, and the process of laminating. These are important mediums and techniques when it comes to shaping and bending materials to fit the unique shapes and designs in a boat. His special skills have continued to be an asset to the woodworking business, particularly when a complex project includes unique curves and bows, such as in a recent hospital setting requiring a rounded wood reception desk with a curved Corian countertop. The boat building business and pattern making experiences that both Kit and Roby bring to the woodworking business enable them to tackle these more complicated processes, which in turn, allow them the freedom to assure their customers that even the most complex job is possible.

Continued education has included attending a special training school for Solid Surface countertop preparation, followed by a year of work at Wisconsin's largest countertop business located in Milwaukee.
